WE RESTART-Gen Z aims at making young people, whose paths are made arduous by situations of psychological distress or by an economic or social disadvantage, experience the healing and meaning-making purposes of the arts.
The program is dedicated to Gen-Z (11 - 25 yrs old) and develops around 2 schemes:
SCHEME 1: ACCESS ART gives young people the possibility to directly experience the power of arts by offering them tickets to attend theatre shows, museum exhibitions, film and documentary screenings and donating them books.
SCHEME 2: BEHIND THE SCENES aims at building a deeper bond with the arts, giving an additional insight about how artists and professionals of the art world work and collaborate and therefore to explore and investigate the possibility to train or have a career in the art industry. Youngsters who will take part to this scheme will be able to meet cast, crews and production staff of theatre shows, participate to art talks, visit artist studios or attend screening talks and book presentations.
To identify the recipients of the program, WE RESTART-Z works in partnership with local organizations liaising with young people.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
WE RESTART strongly advocates the invaluable role arts play in our society, especially as tools of recovery and resilience after individual and collective crises.
In particular, theatre and the entire environment that gravitates around its creative production plays a special part for its ability to speak to our imagination and directly connect with people.
Now more than ever, we are eager to be back together and experience the healing and inspiring power of live performances.
WE RESTART ONSTAGE develops around 2 different schemes, aiming to make theatre more accessible for the community and offering young people the possibility to be inspired by theatre and to discover this special microcosm.

Art as a guide to EXTENSION OF EXPERIENCE: The most difficult task we are asked to fulfil when we are young is growing. "Growth occurs when we discover how to remain authentically ourselves in the presence of potentially threatening things. Maturity is the possession of coping skills: we can take in our strides things that previously would have knocked us off course. We are less fragile, less easily shocked and hence more capable of engaging with situations as they really are". The world of art can provoke, tease and push us to awake the important parts of ourselves. "Art is an immensely sophisticated accumulation of experiences of others, presented to us in well-shaped and well-organized forms. It can provide us with some of the most eloquent instances of the voices of other cultures, so that an engagement with artworks stretches our notions of ourselves and our world. At first, much of art seems merely 'other', but we discover that it can contain ideas and attitudes that we can make our own in ways that enrich us".
WE RESTART provides entry tickets to young people who want to enjoy museums as places of inspiration, learning and fun
.
Art as a GUIDE TO SELF-KNOWLEDGE: As human beings, we are hard to get to know. Often, we feel we are mysterious to ourselves and therefore not good at explaining who we are to others. This feeling is particularly exacerbated at a young age, when we struggle to recognize who we really are with the result of feeling alien to the others and also to ourselves. But when we are exposed to some forms of art, sometimes it seems they can latch on to something we can feel but have never been able to recognize clearly. “Art builds up self-knowledge and has this ability to help us identify what is central to ourselves, but hard to put into words. Much that is human is not readily available in language”.
To help disadvantaged young people in the UK, WE RESTART provides and deliver free books to support their education, training and employment.
WE RESTART also organises meetings with prominent writers and writing workshops.
