In 2022, WE RESTART took action to support artists at risk, specifically those from war-torn regions and areas affected by natural disasters. Through the Secret Art campaign, we provided much-needed assistance to Ukrainian artists who had sought refuge in the UK. Thanks to the generous funds and donations received, we were able to equip a visual artist and a musician with essential materials and instruments to continue their artistic journeys. Moreover, we provided them with valuable resources, connections, and opportunities to become integrated into the local artistic communities.

Inspired by this success, we proudly present A.R.I.A, a hub dedicated to nurturing the talents and potential of asylum seekers, refugees, and immigrant artists in London. These artists face a multitude of challenges, including limited resources, language barriers, and discrimination, which can impede their artistic growth and social integration, often leading them to abandon their creative aspirations.

Unlike short-term interventions or isolated activities found in other programs for displaced artists, A.R.I.A. offers comprehensive, long-term support that is crucial for building sustainable careers in the arts. Our program encompasses the provision of tools and materials, mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities. Our aim is not only to advance their careers but also to cultivate these artists as esteemed members of the local arts community.

We firmly believe that by nurturing the talent and creativity of asylum seekers, refugees, and immigrant artists, we preserve their artistic identities—priceless assets in their journeys to rebuild their lives and extraordinary gifts to the communities where they have found refuge.
